Out of the fire
Only to go back in
In a moment of fantasy
There I stand in the light of the angels
Happy thoughts
Happy thoughts
They last me until the oxygen reignites the flames
Golden sparkling embers
So intriguing
So familiar
But so achingly exhausting
Can somebody please close the window?

  1. I love analyzing poetry and I was just wondering.... are you trying to convey an emotion? Or a circumstance?

  2. Thanks, SweetiePie!

Christie, I was expressing the emotion of contstantly collapsing into the same states of anxiety. And it's so easy to fall back into. You'll notice I like to make a lot of fire references. And in the last line, when I was asking somebody to please close the window, it was like a way of asking for the chaos to stop! It's a little hard to explain... You just kind of have to feel it. But thanks for reading! I love analyzing poetry too.

  3. Thanks for the explanation! I use quite a bit of light and dark analogies in my poetry!
